OUR COMMITMENTS

At Kadalys, our commitments are based on three essential pillars: upcycling, social equity and the development of a circular economy.

Upcycling

We turn waste into value. Approximately 20% of the world's banana production is discarded for aesthetic reasons or due to quality standards. In Martinique, this represents 40,000 tons of bananas thrown away each year. Kadalys is committed to valorizing these "forgotten bananas" and their by-products (such as trunks, flowers, and leaves) by transforming them into high-performance cosmetic ingredients. This upcycling approach goes beyond traditional recycling by creating superior quality products, while minimizing environmental impact and contributing to the reduction of food waste—a key solution to climate change according to the Drawdown Project.

Social Equity

Kadalys embodies a model of inclusive and sustainable growth:

  • Inclusive Capitalism & Fair Trade: Every banana grower in Martinique is a shareholder in the company, ensuring fair value distribution and shared economic benefits across the supply chain.
  • Gender Equality in Science: Since 2011, Kadalys has actively supported the education, advancement, and careers of women in scientific research.
  • Women’s Education: Recognized as a powerful driver of sustainable development, women’s education plays a key role in reducing CO₂ emissions and fostering long-term economic growth.
  • Local Development in the French Caribbean: Kadalys supports emerging scientific talent to help protect and enhance the region’s unique environment, create meaningful employment opportunities, and strengthen the local economy.
  • Mentorship & Entrepreneurship: Through participation in incubators and acceleration programs, and with the support of mentors and strategic partners, Kadalys actively promotes responsible innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship.

The Circular Economy

The circular economy is at the heart of our concerns. By valuing bananas discarded at every stage of their cycle, from plantation to supermarket, we are building an economy where nothing is lost, everything is transformed. This approach not only minimizes our environmental footprint but also supports the local economy of the Caribbean by transforming what was once considered waste into high-quality beauty products. Our virtuous model is based on a circular, responsible, and participatory economy.
