How to take care of the skin on your back and avoid pimples?

Just as common as acne on the face, acne on the back can be a burden to sufferers. Beyond the possible pain, the appearance of pimples on the back can also cause complexes. Cysts, red pustules, unsightly pimples or even scars that last are not synonymous with beautiful skin... Hereditary, hormones, hygiene, beauty products used, sheets and clothes, several causes of back acne are highlighted. Just as for the face, small pimples on the back are not a fatality! We explain to you today how to avoid them and how to get rid of them if you have them!

Why do I have pimples on my back?

Back acne can be a hereditary problem: do your parents have skin with an acneic tendency? Well, chances are you have it too! Just like pimples on the face, pimples on the back can be due to an excessive secretion of sebum. The pores of the skin on the back become clogged and that's when the pimple appears. A bit like the skin on the face! Back acne can also be caused by hormonal problems. In teenagers, during puberty, it is not uncommon to see pimples on the face but also on the chest and back.

In adulthood, hormonal fluctuations and upheavals can also lead to acne pimples... In fact, it is estimated that men are more prone to back acne than women. Finally, an annoying subject on which men outdo us! You should know that it is also possible for a pregnant woman to have blemishes on her face, chest and back. Once again, hormones are to blame!

Apart from hereditary and hormonal concerns, acne on the back can also be a problem of hygiene. Sheets changed infrequently, clothes worn several days in a row without being washed, shower towel kept for several weeks, ... All these things are not in favor of a healthy skin! Especially in summer when perspiration is more important. Finally, the beauty products used are also at fault. A conventional product, for example, may contain comedogenic ingredients that will promote the obstruction of pores and therefore the accumulation of bacteria and sebum.

Also be aware that when you shower, your pores tend to open up due to the heat of the water. If you use a conditioner, the oil in it (along with other potentially comedogenic ingredients) can clog pores when you rinse your hair.

What are the tips for getting rid of pimples on the back?
There are several relatively simple tips to get rid of pimples on your back. Be careful, these tips are only for people who have few pimples.

  • Remember to change your sheets regularly! At night, the body gets rid of all the toxins accumulated during the day. Perspiration and dead skin accumulate on the sheets or on your pyjamas if you wear them! It is therefore important to wash your sheets at least twice a month, or to change your pajamas once a week. Be even more vigilant in summer when perspiration is more excessive!
  • Avoid wearing your clothes several days in a row! Same concerns as with sheets and pajamas: daytime perspiration, sebum production and friction are not friends of acne-prone skin.
  • Choose soft materials when it comes to clothing! Organic cotton and soft materials are your friends. Avoid wearing clothes that are too close to the body to limit friction.
  • Wash with room temperature water. Very hot showers tend to open pores and stimulate the sebaceous glands (the ones that produce sebum).
  • Use mild soaps to clean your skin! Choose them without perfumes, surfactants or mineral oils and ideally choose organic ones.
  • Wash your hair with organic shampoos and conditioners, for the same reasons as the soaps! Also try to wash your back after rinsing your hair. This will prevent the grease from the conditioner from staying on your back and clogging your pores!
  • Exfoliate your skin! With a loofa sponge, a beaded scrub or a brush, the choice is yours. You can also make masks.
  • Moisturize your skin every day with a natural cream or a vegetable oil!
